Kodak Matrix QLED TV 55MT5022 First Impression

KODAK in India is not recognized anymore due to its camera quality instead Smart TV with a wide range of features yet within budget. SPPL brand licensee of Kodak in India has given Kodak a new identity and face among Indian consumers. Well, I can remember the first smart tv of Kodak (SPPL) launched in India was not much smart, however, with continuous improvements and understanding the customer needs; now, Kodak already has a fully Smart a.k.a Google TV with lots of features. Till the company only offered LED Display Smart Tvs but with the launch of the Matrix series, it has moved one step ahead.

Kodak Matrix uses QLED technology, it stands for Quantum Dots Light Emitting Diode whereas LED means Light Emitting diodes. QLED uses quantum dot technology that adds an extra layer of tiny particles in front of a regular LED backlight panel. It offers more rich and more accurate colors, dynamic contrast, and peak brightness. Though it may sound similar to an OLED, it’s a very different technology that enables over a billion colors.

We got Kodak Matrix QLED 55 inches for review, here are some pictures of it…

Kodak Matrix QLED TV offers 178 degrees of wide viewing angle, which means even a person in a room sitting left or right to the TV can easily watch it, without any blur or fading effect.

The new Kodak Matrix QLED 4k UHD design falls into the premium smart TV category, with a frameless design flaunting edge-to-edge panels with a high screen-to-body ratio. However, only the three sides of the TV are almost zero bezels, but the lower part (chin) is slightly prominent to hold the Kodak branding and light indicator. This whole setup undoubtedly enhances the viewing experience.

If we talk about the housing of Kodak Matrix it builds of hard plastic, durable and tough, pretty good for the price. The connectivity ports and connectors are placed vertically on the rear like most of the other brands, therefore difficult to access, if you are planning to wall mount your TV. It is recommended to use moving wall mount brackets instead one supplied in the TV’s box.

Matrix QLED TVs will be available in three sizes: 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch, with prices starting at prices INR 33,999. These will be available on Flipkart during Big Billion Days Sale as BBD Specials. These fully loaded models have Dolby certifications for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision. Additionally, they come with improved sound with DTS TruSurround sound, a QLED 4K display with 1.1 billion colors, Dolby MS12, HDR 10+ with 2GB RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.

With an integrated Google Assistant, the Kodak TVs offer a large screen for Chromecast video meetings, documents, and built-in apps, such as YouTube Learning and Google classroom, assisting in learning and upgradation. Customers can also cast photos, videos, music, and other content. The QLED variants are also loaded with features such as an MT9062 processor, Google TV, and multiple connectivity options with USB 2.0, HDMI 3 (ARC, CEC), and Bluetooth Dual Band 2.4 + 5 GHz that has a user-friendly remote control.

Matrix series will provide a cinematic experience at 4K prices with QLED technology, Kodak becomes the first to offer this tech within this price range to make the technology accessible to a larger segment of consumers. While our short usage the 4K was also supported while streaming videos from Youtube and other apps.

The bundled remote control is another twig of the whole Kodak Matrix package that is going to enhance the user experience because of its small size, fewer buttons, and no need to direct the Remote, particularly towards the IR module direction anymore to control the TV.

It features only the key options which a user needs such as a Volume and Channel changer, App drawer, Menu, Mute, and Navigation along with shortcuts to Youtube, Amazon Prime, and NetFlix. Thus, the Remote is absolutely as it should be. A voice-assistant button to invoke Google Assistant is also there.

Well, this was just a glimpse of Kodak’s newly launched Matrix QLED series, just wait for a few days, let’s use it thoroughly then we would be able to give a final verdict on whether to bring this Smart TV home during this festival season or not.
