Pokemon has been featured in Hollywood films as well, and many video games on Pokemon have been released in the past decade on platforms like Nintendo and Android. Pokemon Unite is being developed by Tencent Gaming. It has been confirmed that Game Freak Studio, who developed most of the Pokemon Games, is not developing it, so Tencent Gaming it is. As Tencent is one of the biggest names of in-game publications for the last 3 years, we can expect good gameplay with extremely optimized performance. We all know about the huge marketing strategy and expressive microtransaction policies of Tencent Gaming, so we can expect the same from Pokemon Unity as well. Pokemon Unite is going to be a MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) genre game. So, PvP competitive gameplay is the main theme of the new Pokemon game. If you do not how it feels like to play a MOBA game, watch some videos on DOTA 2 and League of Legends gameplay. Though the game is not going to feature on the Windows platform natively, so expecting exact quality gameplay like DOTA 2 would be wrong. Pokemon Unite Release Date

The confirmation of Pokemon Unite, Tencent Gaming’s new Upcoming MOBA game, came from the Pokemon Company CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara. But he did not provide any confirmation about the release date. According to his words, the project is still under a later stage of development, and they yet to decide anything about the launch. As even at the end of July 2020 the launch is not planned yet, so we can expect the game is not hitting the market shortly. The CEO stated that the game would enter the BETA phase sometime during this year. As China is dealing with COVID-19 pandemic, so the developer must be facing various crises every day, hence we can not expect the launch sooner anyhow. As the game is entering the Beta phase this year, thus our best bet is that Pokemon Unite would launch at 2021, not before that. If the Pokemon Unite Beta comes to existence by the end of 2020, then we can expect the launch to take place on Q1/Q2, 2021.

As per the trailers, we can see Pokemon Unite is going to feature a match between two 5 players’ teams. Each team would have 5 players, and each of them would be having a unique character to play with. The teams would be fighting against each other to achieve an objective in the arena, and all the players would have infinite respawn when they are dead. The characters would have the opportunity to upgrade the powers and abilities as the game advances. Also, all the characters would feature abilities that would be countering abilities to some other players, so choosing the character to play is going to be a strategic decision.

There are a lot of questions arising over which Pokemons are going to be featured in the game. Here is the confirmed list of Pokemons which are going to be featured in the game:

Critical Response to the Pokemon Unite

The reveal of Pokemon Unite was a speculated one so the expectation was high, but after announcement and trailer launch it received mixed criticism and unexpected bitter reviews. It is been discussed by the experts that Pokemon Unite has the potential to open a new competitive gaming scene to old and new audiences. But many people including many of Pokemon fans put dislikes to the YouTube videos on Pokemon Gameplay Trailer and the announcement trailer. The announcement trailer received thousands of dislikes within a very short time, and reportedly it became one of the most disliked videos on Pokemon’s official YouTube channel. Though the announcement was not from the developer’s side, it was from the Pokemon Company’s side; and they said the game is still so the gameplay quality and visual quality is not final version at all. But it is still a mystery, why so many people hated the videos.
