AI and ML are two technologies that certainly will diversify the way we are using digital devices today and over it, the IoT will be an icing on the cake. The Internet of Things is not a new concept and has been around for quite some time now, however, still, we are not getting much of it in our day to day life. The main reason is the lack of affordable smart devices; and those are available, they are out of the reach of everyone. However, gradually all this has been started changing as more and more companies, deal in consumer tech, started manufacturing budget-smart devices to grab the demand for such products lies at the bottom of the consumer pyramid. Out of such manufactures, one is Zoook.
Zoook deals with various tech accessories, audio, and smart home products. One of its latest addition in the Smart home segments is the Smart Shine Wifi bulb.
Although most of the smart bulbs are the same except the wattage they require, however, the features they come with are the things that make them different. For example, the range of different colors and how easy is for a user to connect the Smart bulb with an existing network.
So, let’s see in this review of Zoook Smart Shine to evaluate its performance and ease of usage plus whether you should buy it or not.

Design
The design of the Zoook Smart bulb is similar to any other regular electric bulbs. A bulge at the front side that starts getting tapered as we move towards the connector. Although the bulb itself has a generic B22 connector which is common in India, inside the box the user will also get a B22 to E27 connector. In case you have some device such as a lamp with an E27 holder that uses a standard screw structure to tight the bulb in the holder.
How to Connect Zoook Smart Bulb with your network
It is not compulsory to connect the bulb to the internet, it can be used as a regular one. However, what is the benefit of having a smartness if we won’t use it? Thus, grab your smartphone and follow the below-given steps.
- Download Zoook Smart for Mobile App from your respective app store. However, here are the links to make things a little bit easier for you: Google Play Store and iOS App store.
- After installing the application open it.
- Tap on the Register button.
- Agree on the terms and conditions.
- Enter the Email address which you would like to use to get registered with Zoook and tap on the “Get Verification Code button“.
- Go to your Email Inbox, check the received code, and enter the same on your mobile phone Zoook app.
- Create Password
- Tap on the Add Device
- Select the Lighting Category from the left side panel and then Lighting (Wi-Fi).
- On and Off the Zoook Bulb quickly three times and after that, it will start blinking rapidly.
Performance and Controls
I would not say the Zoook Smart Wifi Bulb has something unique that other Smart bulbs don’t have, however, whatever we need to control the Shine Smart bulb locally and remotely are there. The Zoook Smart App is super easy and anybody can easily understand with the help of guided design and clear instructions. That we already have seen above while setting up the bulb.
Now, what else you get after establishing a successful connection. The app features a color wheel that lets the user change the tint of the Light. It is quite simple, just hold the inner circle of the color wheel and select the shade of color you want to have on the Zoook Smart Bulb. As most of the companies claim to offer millions of color combinations on Smart Bulb and the same is true for Shine Smart with 16 million. However, it is on paper, by naked eyes, you would hardly able to differentiate or identify all 16 million colors, we have not only experienced in Zoook Smart Shine but also while doing the review of the Syska Smart LED bulb.
Thus, in any smart bulb most of the time you would only recognize the standard colors such as green, blue, red, orange, yellow, or their lighter or darker shades. Well, yet there is plenty to play according to the mode. Moreover, there is a dedicated section on the app that has pre-define scenes such as Read, Working, Leisure, Soft, Party, and more. Even you can set the bulb to automatically change the colors that will be very useful while having some dance party. Controlling brightness and contrast are some other handy features.
The story doesn’t end here, what is the fun of having Smart Bulb if we couldn’t control it via voice. Yes, with the help of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant we can use our voice to turn the Shine on & off and change colors. You can assign different names to your lights, for example, if the Shine Smart Bulb is in the Living Room then you can call it Living Room Lamp, in the same way, Bedroom Lamp and more. Use virtual Assitant to control them separately and have a home lit up using smart lights. However, we successfully had integrated the Zoook Skills to control the Shine Smart (instructions are given in the user manual), however, we did face some problems intermittently with Alexa and the smart bulb that was- unresponsiveness. Unfortunately, the same problem was with Google Assistant.
Furthermore, we can set certain conditions to automate the device and it works with IFTTT as well. For example, at sunset turn on and in the morning turn off the bulb automatically.
Even we can dim the light from 100 to 1 percent, so do you want to sleep but with slight light in the room then either ask Alexa or just use the smartphone to do that. Timmer and scheduling for the same can also be done.
Apart from all this, while using the Zoook Smart App, we didn’t face any problem in operating the device. You can even turn Off or On the light even when you are out of your home or place where the Shine has been installed, using your own phone or another network with the help of the internet.
The price of Zoook Shine Smart is INR 1999. Yes, the MRP seems a tad high, however, one can easily get it at a lower price. So, replace your old high wattage bulbs with Zoook Shine for not only for the smartness but loads of colors it fills your room with.
